I started this Padlet Resource page when I was a Math Coach at Wilson Elementary. It had a lot of CCSS and evidence based instruction. I was gonna delete it but there is just too much good stuff on here. So check it out and see if it sparks any notions in your mind.

9 days left!

I gotta question.

Why do the subs kids LOVE,

never really measure up

to the ones they HATE?

My analogy for Curriculum

Terraforming Planet XYZ

Tianka Sheard

  1. The Intergalactic Federation of Nations and Worlds fund the missions and resources.
  2. State and District stakeholders -Mission Command and Community: C&C Headquarters
  3. Superintendent- Admiral
  4. School Board- Cabinet
  5. Principal- Captain of the ship and mission
  6. Teachers- Trainers and Instructors, Bridge crew, Flight crew, Research Analysts, Scientists and Mission Planners for the Crew
  7. Support Staff- Environmental, Food and Security services
  8. Students- colonists
  9. Curriculum - missions goals
  10. Lessons- Mission tasks and challenges
  11. Assessments- Mission Benchmarks

For the purposes of this assignment we will focus on points 8-11.

#8 Students= Colonists and #9 Curriculum= Mission Goals- The mission goals (curriculum) must be rooted in the belief that our system for preparing colonists (students) to engage with their new world- Planet XYZ in a way that is beneficial not only to themselves but also to the planet and federation stakeholders. Each colonist will have equal opportunity to access the mission tasks and challenges (lessons) and Instructors to prepare them for the various missions. Alternative experiences and learning paths are embraced and tailored for each colonist. The mission Trainers and Instructors have the challenging task of empowering colonists with the vast variety of content, knowledge and skills needed to accomplish the vast variety of tasks needed to be contributing members of a global community.

#8 Students= Colonists and #10 Lessons = Mission Tasks and Challenges - The mission tasks and challenges must be streamlined so that they have a horizontal and vertical sequence that correlate to Mission Command expectations and each colonists innate strengths as well as meet the needs of a diverse world. The mission tasks (lessons) must immerse the colonists in measured, cognitive, and social experiences that contribute to the self - actualization of EACH individual colonist, so that they are capable of meeting the various needs of the community.

#8 Students= Colonists and #11 Assessments= Mission Benchmarks - It is critical that colonists meet the mission benchmarks (assessments) so that the ultimate Mission Benchmark: To colonize this planet with exceptional minds that are prepared to contribute to the global society with a unique skill set and an adaptable mind.

I LOVE MY KIDS! Their diversity means I still get to learn so much from interacting with them every school day!
