CHPL is a repository for the Cincinnati Enquirer, the only daily newspaper publication still running in the Greater Cincinnati area. The Enquirer began publication in 1841 and continues to be published daily, covering a broad range of local and international stories as well as recent obituaries and local interest pieces. Please note the Cincinnati Enquirer used to run twice a day in the 1930s through the 1970's and some articles/editions may not be accessible online.
The Cincinnati Enquirer can be searched digitally from 1841 to the present on the CHPL library's website (with a 7-day embargo on present publications). All CHPL library locations receive daily deliveries of the Cincinnati Enquirer, which can be browsed by patrons with no library card required. Additionally, the Downtown Library location holds bound and microform copies of all Cincinnati Enquirer publications.

From there, you can select the listing at the very top and second from the top under Featured Databases. Please note that listings are broken down by years. Select the database in accordance with the year you are searching for.

The Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library acquired the photo archive of the Cincinnati Enquirer for permanent preservation in 2019. The collection contains more than a million photographs created by the newspaper's staff photographers between 1945 and 1995. The photos encompass a wide range of subjects, including Cincinnati events, historic buildings, notable individuals, and more. Scanned images can be browsed by selecting the link below, and requests for scans of any photos in the collection can be placed.

Please note that The Cincinnati Times-Star was acquired by the Post in 1958, and the Post also had a joint operating agreement with The Cincinnati Enquirer for the last 30 years of its existence. All editions of the Cincinnati Post are available for browsing online, and the Downtown Library location holds bound and microform copies of all Cincinnati Post Publications.
