I did it! I produced the perfect solution for cheap DIY model train control! Or so I thought.
dedicated control panel ..... check.
custom communication protocol .... check.
PWM motor control ..... check
Simple and easy setup ..... check.
proper power supply ..... proper power supply? What went wrong?
I was working on a system that would modulate the power on the rails to create a pulse position signal(PPM). This signal would be read by the trains and changed to a pulse width modulation(PWM) for motor speed and direction control. It was working perfectly until I was having trouble filtering out the false readings made by noise from the motor.
Good or bad I tabled this system until a later date and moved to a radio communication system that is currently functioning. If you liked this you should check it out.
