What is the SCP Foundation?
I have concerns on Foundation security and intelligence, where can I go? What should I do?
Any concerns on Foundation security and intelligence should be directed to the Department of Intelligence's Public Affairs Server. Such inquiries can include (but are not limited to):
- Alternate account authorization
- Suspicious behaviour exhibited by a member of the Foundation
- Reports on external groups that may/or do pose a threat to the Foundation
- Reports on members of the Internal Security Department
- Behaviour of another that falls under the criminal code's capital offenses, such offenses are serious and may lead to the highest of punishments applied to conspiring users
- Inappropriate/or illegal behaviour exhibited by a member of our community outside or within our Foundation
How can I affiliate another group with the Foundation?
Any concerns, inquiries, external groups or affiliation requests are to be handled by the Department of External Affairs in their Discord Server. The Department of External Affairs may also take reports on external groups affiliated or not. We request that reports on allied personnel are sent to DEA too.
How do I join the Foundation?
To apply for ranks, you must join our Admissions server. Once you have joined (the link was provided earlier in this message), check the #information channel for details on the clearances you wish to apply for. Click the drop down button corresponding to your desired level to access the application format. After filling out the application, paste it into the designated channel for that level, usually named "level-" followed by the level number. Please make sure to follow the rules stated in the application format, as different levels may have specific instructions and rules.
How do I join a department?
To join a department, you must first verify that your current level permits you to do so. Certain departments, particularly those with critical duties, require a minimum level before you can apply. This requirement ensures that applicants are committed and capable of fulfilling the department's responsibilities effectively. Those with higher levels have demonstrated their dedication and are more likely to perform the duties properly. After completing the previous steps, navigate to the "Departments" tab on this website, located on the top bar. Click the down arrow to reveal all available departments. Select your desired department and follow the provided instructions for recruitment.
If I am removed from the main server while in departments, will I also be removed from my departments?
If you are removed from the main server, you will also be removed from any departments you are part of. However, special exceptions may be made depending on the circumstances of the ban. You are required to remain in the main server and main group while participating in departments. You do not need to join the main server if you are not ranked Level-1 or above, it is highly recommended though.
Can I join as many departments as I want?
No, however, it should be noted that we are generally more relaxed compared to other SCPFs in this regard. You are allowed to join 2 major departments, 3 secondary departments, and an unlimited number of tertiary departments. This rule permits you to join 2 combative departments simultaneously if you are not part of another major department, a flexibility that most other SCPFs do not offer.
What is a Class-E sentence?
A Class-E sentence is a form of punishment that may be issued by the Ethics Committee, O5 Council, or the Department of Intelligence. These sentences can have a fixed duration or be permanent, although most can be appealed. However, some sentences are marked as unappealable, meaning you cannot appeal and must wait for the sentence to conclude. If your sentence is both permanent and unappealable, you are considered Foundation Blacklisted, and you will never have the chance to rejoin the Foundation or appeal the sentence. Foundation Blacklists are typically reserved for capital offenses. However, exceptions can be made, and an individual may be Foundation Blacklisted for other serious violations. Any Class-E sentence may restrict your access to certain departments. For example, upon receiving a Class-E sentence, you are automatically blacklisted by the Department of Intelligence. While the Ethics Committee may not blacklist you, applying to join the Ethics Committee later may be more challenging, and you might be questioned about your sentence. Warnings are typically issued before imposing a Class-E sentence, although this isn't always guaranteed.
What is a rank lock?
Rank locks can be imposed by the Department of Intelligence or the O5 Council based on perceived threats, sometimes without concrete evidence if suspicion is strong enough. A rank lock restricts advancement beyond a certain level and consequently limits access to specific departmental ranks. You are unlikely to be informed if you are rank locked, as this measure is intended to ensure the continued security and safety of the group.
What is a blacklisted group?
A blacklisted group refers to a group that has been officially blacklisted by the Department of Intelligence, O5 Council, or the Department of External Affairs. If you are ranked Level-1 or are Foundation personnel and you join a blacklisted group, you will be instructed by any of the three authorities mentioned above to leave. Failure to comply will result in a permanent and appealable sentence, which ceases upon your departure from the blacklisted group. If you have been blacklisted due to refusal but subsequently leave the group, you are required to notify the Department of External Affairs to have your sentence removed. However, if the group was deemed an intelligence threat, you must appeal instead of directly informing to the Department of Intelligence and if the appeal is successful, you may be placed on a watchlist with a possible rank lock.
What can I do if I see somebody breaking rules?
The easy answer would be to report the behavior, but the appropriate action depends on the nature of the violation(s).
- If the violation occurs on the main Discord server and breaches Discord server rules, you should inform someone with moderation powers, particularly a moderator.
- If the violation happens in-game and violates the central charter, it should be reported to the Ethics Committee. You can file a report to the Ethics Committee here.
- If the violation takes place off-site, possibly on Discord, and involves plotting, espionage, treason, or any other capital crimes, it should be reported to the Department of Intelligence.
How do I progress to Level-4 and above?
You may have noticed that our level applications do not extend beyond Level-3. Levels 4 and 5 are considered command and directorate positions within their respective departments. To obtain these ranks, you must hold a position within a department that grants Level-4 clearance. While these positions are more challenging to attain, they are certainly possible with dedication and effort. Investing time and effort into a department is an excellent way to advance your career within the Foundation. It's important to note that these roles require a strong understanding of tools such as Google Docs, Trello, spreadsheets, and other command-related resources. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you familiarize yourself with these tools before pursuing command or directorate positions. It should also be noted that you will be rigorously vetted by the Department of Intelligence for a position ranking Level-4 or above and should be ready to answer any questions or do anything for which you are asked by the Department of Intelligence in such a circumstance.
Why is my application repeatedly being denied?
There could be multiple reasons for which your application is repeatedly denied. For starters, did you ensure that the correct spelling, punctuation and grammar was used? Did you ensure to follow the instructions given to you? It is important to note that AI generated answers may also see you instantly denied. It could also be probable that you didn't answer a question to the best of your ability/or misread a question. It is highly recommended you check over your answers before you send them. However, in the event of a denial, you will typically receive a reason from the executive who reviewed your application. For further inquiries, please contact the executive who denied your application if you have any questions.
I have been banned in-game, what should I do?
Firstly, it should be noted that game bans are extremely rare, and if you have been banned, it is likely that the ban was warranted. If you believe you have been unfairly banned, you should contact a member of the O5 Council, preferably the council member who issued the ban, though any council member can assist. If there is insufficient evidence supporting your ban, you should be reinstated. However, if you were banned for violating game rules based on recorded evidence, you have the option to appeal. Offenses such as exploiting, glitching, and other methods are typically not appealable. You should review our in-game rules here.
