Krishnaveni Mishra obtained her PhD from the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad in 1994 where she worked on transport of RNA and protein across the nuclear membrane in mammalian cells. She has extensive experience in yeast genetics, molecular biology and cell biology, having done her post doctorate studies at the Washington University in cell cycle regulation of nuclear pore complex protein expression in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, as well as at the University of Geneva, Switzerland where she focused on telomere length regulation and epigenetic gene regulation in S. cerevisiae. 

Krishnaveni returned to India in 2001 where she joined CCMB as a postdoctoral fellow for a short while before accepting a Senior Research Associateship (CSIR-Pool officer) to pursue studies in nuclear architecture and epigenetics. In 2004, she joined the University of Hyderabad as a faculty at the Department of Biochemistry where she continues to study epigenetic gene regulation and nuclear architecture in gene expression and genome stability. 

Krishnaveni served as the Head, Department of Biochemistry and Coordinator of Master’s in Systems Biology (5-year integrated) program at the School of Life Sciences. She was also the Associate Director of the College for Integrated Studies where she coordinated the activities of the Integrated Master’s program in Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities.

When not immersed in the latest research articles, Krishnaveni can be found gardening, baking, binge-watching movies, taking long walks, and reading books across various genres (except science fiction).
