"to be"

To be

In thai, to be has three different meanings. เป็น อยู่ and คือ

It is very easy in Thai because the words don't conjugate (ผัน) and so you only have to remember which situation you use them. However in English we must always remember how the verb changes based on the pronoun.

  • I am
  • You are
  • He is
  • She is
  • It is
  • We are
  • You are (พวกคุณ)
  • They are

It can be confusing at first but they must be practiced.

Furthermore, the questions we ask will also change based on the person we are asking about, for example:

  • what am I doing?
  • What are you doing?
  • What is he doing?
  • What is she doing?
  • What is it doing?
  • What are we doing?
  • What are you doing?
  • What are they doing?
