Using "a" or "an" in English is very Easy. The rules are as follows:
Normally if we want to say หนึ่งสิ่ง in English we will simply use “a"
The only time we use "an" is when the following word starts with the sound of a vowel เสียงสระ (not necessarily a vowel)
For example
Be very careful however, some words such as "european" although they have an e at the start, it is pronounced "yu-row-pee-an" like it had a y sound. So the following sentence is
Also be careful of words that start with consonants but the sound is that of a vowel.
