Students will familiarize themselves with Korea by learning Korean buzzwords/slang. It will be useful to use what they learned from today's lesson in texting, talking to friends in Korean, and when you watch Korean tv shows.

Compare middle and high school in Korea and in the U.S. Find pros and cons of each of them in an open discussion.
Virtual Meeting
Virtual Meeting
Middle& high school students from Korea will spare us time for a virtual meeting. They will do an ice breaker, jeopardy game in groups that consist of both Korean and American students. The main goal for this class is to let them experience how they are alike and different in many ways.

Schools in Korea has 10 minute break time between each class, which allows students to refresh before going into a new class. Students will try Break time games: gong gi, Halli Galli, Zenga, etc.
Week 8: Travel Plan
Week 8: Travel Plan
This project will be conducted in groups to create a travel plan consisting of famous modern sites. The travel plan will include the following:
The order of the sites they go to
What they will do at each site
A brief description of the site
Google-map location of the site
Minimum of 6 sites
Images of each site
This presentation will be done on Google Slides or Microsoft PowerPoint. (Recommended to use a computer).
Students will later present their travel plan to the class.
Example:
> Day 1: Go on a walk at Cheonggyecheon stream in Seoul. This is a modern public recreation space, that is an urban renewal project. It is 10.9 kilometers long. Cheonggyecheon
> Day 2: Visit the Lotte World amusement park located in Seoul. This has the world's largest indoor theme park, and it has an outdoor theme park called "Magic Island". Lotte World
> Day 3: Go to Gwangalli Beach during the night in Busan. This beach had a water purification process that caused the ecosystem to flourish Gwangalli Beach.
^ This is just an example, so it is not in the presentation format. Images, color, visuals, and other aspects should be included.
Week 9: Cooking Class & restaurant skit/play
Act out different scenarios as if you are eating in Korea at a restaurant. There can be multiple roles like: being a waitress, owner, chef, customer, etc.
Teachers are going to teach the students how to make an easy Korean dish/side dish (i.e) kimbap.

Week 10 ~ 11: Korean News clip & Open Discussion
Students will watch a news clip from Korea to learn about the issues Korea currently has. Students will solve short questions and have an open discussion about the issues and differences between US and Korea.

What are the differences between Korean and US delivery services?
Discuss possible solutions with your group.

On week 12, students will visit different Korean websites. With a short explanation of the website & video, students will explore internet cultures in Korea, and compare & contrast the internet cultures with the USA.

Week 13: Mini Webtoon
Individually create your own mini webtoon!
Students will make their own original webtoon incorporating the following:
A famous site in South Korea
Korean & English dialogue
A basic plotline + drawings
This project will be conducted after looking at famous Webtoons during week 12. The webtoon could be a romance, thriller, comedy, action, anything the student wants it to be. The comic must take place at a famous site. For example, the comic could be about a couple taking a stroll along the Cheonggyecheon stream.
