About us 

Welcome to our KOIRA AKATEMIA!

 I am the founder and leader of our Academy. My name is Milana Niemi, I was born in St. Petersburg, but I have been living and working in Finland for many years.

 Since childhood, my life has been associated with dogs. My mother worked as a veterinarian, and there were always animals in our house. At the age of 12, I got my first dog of my own, with the upbringing of which my hobby for training began.

 In St. Petersburg, I finished training school at a dog breeding club and trained service dogs in Obediens classes. In Finland I have been working as a professional dog trainer since 2014. I have a trainer diploma from the Finnish Kennel Club (Kilpatottelevaisuuskoulutusohjaaja).

 I own 4 dogs, doing different kinds of training and sports with them (TOKO, agility, nosework, jäljestys). We successfully compete in national Finnish obedience competitions with my dog Ben beagle and we have won many times.

 The tasks of our Academy are to lay the foundations for the education and obedience of a dog in everyday life with the help of special techniques and exercises, to direct the dog's energy in the right direction, if necessary, to correct the mistakes made by the owners earlier, to give them practical recommendations on raising their four-legged friends. Another area of ​​our Academy's work is professional dog training and preparation for competitions.

We provide individual or group lessons in different languages: Finnish, English or Russian.

How to join us?

 What to consider when registering for courses: 

 Only absolutely healthy people can go to classes.  

Vaccinations: - We follow the Finnish Kennel Club's vaccination rules, so only vaccinated dogs are admitted to our courses. The instructor checks the vaccination certificates in the first lesson.  

Mandatory vaccinations: Rabies vaccine RABIES, as well as plague vaccine. These vaccinations must be done at least 21 days before attending the course. We also recommend the kennel cough vaccine (Kennel yskä), but this is not required. 

Points to Consider: - Training takes place outdoors, so dress for the weather. Raining is not a reason to be away from the training.

In winter, there are restrictions on outdoor activities. Classes are canceled and postponed to another date if the frost is more than  -10C!

- The minimum number of participants in the course is 3 dogs.. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the course will be canceled and the payment will be refunded. - Please note that "Anna Tassu" does not insure the pupils, so you should take care of your own safety and, if necessary, purchase insurance. 

 Remember that the owner is always fully responsible for any damage caused by their dog to other participants or dogs in the class.  You cannot come to a group lesson with a dog in heat. - You also can't come to class with a sick dog. In case of illness of the owner or the dog, the payment will be refunded if there is a medical certificate.   

What to bring? - Certificate of vaccinations (checked only at the first lesson).  Favourite delicacies cut into small pieces, for example, sausage, cheese or any other delicacies. However, it doesn't have to be what you feed your pet every day (i.e. not what the dog eats at home). - A toy for a dog. - Leash (not a tape measure) - Water and a bowl.  Bring a sunny, optimistic attitude and your desire to learn new things!

Private lessons

Private lessons are a very effective way to train your dog. Does the dog pull on the leash, jump on people or bite, spoil your property and bully, does not follow commands and does not obey .. how to cut your nails and when to get vaccinated ... how to learn to understand your pet? We will look for answers to all these and other questions and correct the dog's behavior together. We will plan the course with you, taking into account the characteristics of your pet. You yourself decide the number of lessons as needed.
