Each level in Parcel Patrol is designed to push your reflexes, precision, and adaptability. The mechanics range from shifting portals, anti-gravity effects, and package-destroying magma floors. These mechanics create a thrilling and engaging gameplay experience that evolves with each stage. How far can you go in Parcel Patrol? 🚚📦Â
Parcel Patrol Level 1: Let's Get Started
In the first level of Parcel Patrol, I’ve set up a system where players must sort and send packages to the correct sending vents based on the symbol assigned to each vent. The three sending vents are each managed by a PicBot NPC, and each vent will display a symbol. The player must match the symbol on the package to the symbol assigned to the vent in order to score points.
Parcel Patrol Level 2: Portal Chaos
In this level, portals add an extra layer of excitement and complexity. Portal rifts have randomly appeared beneath the three sending vents, causing the vents to move around the office. As the vents shift positions, players must adapt quickly to throw packages into the correct destination. This mechanic challenges spatial awareness and timing, making every throw a test of precision under pressure.
Parcel Patrol Level 3: Anti-Gravity MayhemÂ
Gravity itself becomes a dynamic element in Level 3. Anti-gravity engages and disengages at random intervals, flipping the rules of physics in the blink of an eye. When anti-gravity is activated, packages float unpredictably, requiring players to master their aim and anticipate package trajectories. When gravity returns, players must quickly recalibrate and adapt. This level keeps you on your toes as you navigate a shifting environment.
Parcel Patrol Level 4: Magma Floor MayhemÂ
The stakes are even higher in Level 4, where the office floor turns into a dangerous magma zone. Any package that falls to the floor is destroyed upon contact, and points are deducted. The destruction field mechanic adds a layer of tension and urgency, forcing players to make accurate throws and avoid costly mistakes. This fiery challenge requires focus and finesse as you strive to keep your packages safe
Key Mechanics:
Package Spawning: Packages are spawned from prefabs at random intervals, each with a unique symbol. These prefabs are then directed towards the appropriate sending vent based on their assigned symbol.
Symbol Matching: The player is responsible for ensuring the correct symbol on the package matches the symbol of the assigned sending vent. If the package matches, the player earns points; if not, the player loses points. This adds a layer of strategy and attention to detail.
Timer System: A timer system has been implemented for each level. The player must sort and deliver the packages within a specific time limit. This adds a sense of urgency and pressure to the gameplay, requiring players to act quickly and efficiently to complete the tasks.
PicBot NPC Animations: The PicBot NPCs are animated to reflect their role in the sorting process:
Point System: Points are awarded for sending a package to the correct vent, and points are deducted for sending a mismatched package. The game tracks the player’s score in real-time to encourage accuracy and efficiency in package sorting.
Multiplier Combo System: The game features a dynamic multiplier mechanic that rewards players for consecutive correct actions. When the player successfully sends multiple correctly-symbolized packages in a row, the multiplier increases. The multiplier not only tracks the combo but is visually animated. This provides the player with visual feedback on their performance and encourages careful attention to maintaining the streak.
Bomb Objects: Bombs are introduced as a threat that can negatively impact the player's score. If a bomb collides with one of the sending vents, it will explode, causing the player to lose points. However, I’ve programmed a separate system for sending bombs out into space. If the player successfully redirects the bomb to the designated “DISPOSAL" pipe, they earn points instead. This adds an additional layer of gameplay, where the player needs to quickly identify and handle the bombs correctly.
