In 2016 a team representing KNA faced a team from the State Higher Vocational School in Tarnów, where they argued whether science is essential for contemporary society.
We're planning to host a second edition of the Debates very soon.
Earlier this year, members of the IFA Theatre went to Scotland to perform at the Jane Stirling Festival, which celebrates the life of Jane Stirling - the woman responsible for preserving Chopin's legacy.
The Festival was then brought to Poland, where our members read poetry by Juliusz Slowacki, Sir Walter Scott, and Cyprian Kamil Norwid, accompanied by music students performing pieces by Chopin.
Between Past and Present was a 2014 conference organised by Old English Student Society. Combined with workshops on writing abstracts, it was an opportunity for first year students to deliver their first conference talk in a relatively stress-free environment. The conference was a boost for quite a few students, who are now pursuing their academic careers.
Our members speak at many conferences and expand their knowledge at summer schools and workshops throughout the entire year. We've been to Paris, Prague, Budapest, Brussels, Olomouc, Debrecen, Cambridge, Lodz, Lublin, and many others.
KNA often takes part in events such as Malopolska Noc Naukowców and Noc Języków, which aim at popularising science. We also visit high schools and give talks about our fields and studying at IFA. We hope that by showing people what we do, we can make academia a bit less intimidating.
