Over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medication can be given at school by the school nurse, health office paraprofessional, or trained school employee. Medication will only given with parent consent. This consent may be given verbally but must be followed up in writing within 2 days.

OTC medication containing aspirin will not be given without a written order from an authorized prescriber due to the association with Rye's Syndrome
OTC medication will not be given beyond the dosage and frequency guidelines on the medication label without a written order from an authorized prescriber
Medication not authorized by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) like vitamins and homeopathic medication require a written order from an authorized prescriber

You can ask your pharmacy to provide you with 2 labeled bottles (one for home and one for school)
Controlled medication must be brought to school by an adult and CANNOT be sent with a student. Arrangements to deliver medication outside of school hours can be made with the school nurse by calling 320-264-1926. Many medication used to control ADHD and anxiety are considered controlled medication.
