Hello Kelly Lane families,
A friendly reminder that Friday, October 23 is a student holiday :)
I hope you got my recent email about our upcoming novel study, The Outsiders. We are developing a plan to hand out books to students and will hopefully start reading together the first week of November. As mentioned in the email, you are more than welcome to buy XX their own copy so they can highlight and write notes.
You may have heard that Pflugerville is switching over to Canvas as our main learning management system. I have started migrating our ELA class to Canvas, and next week will be using it exclusively. This means ALL assignments and Zoom links will only be located there. It is new for both students and teachers, so we are figuring out together! If you would like more information please visit https://www.pfisd.net/Page/7868.
Coming up in 7th Grade Language Arts we will be working on:

Hello Kelly Lane families,
I am so impressed with the hard work that everyone has been doing! This week’s Zoom calls were full of interaction and participation.
Please make sure you look for Mrs. Schaefer’s emails this weekend.
The PFISD Technology Department requests that all technical support requests be sent through “Let’s Talk”. I’ve attached the procedures on how to access that.

Hello Kelly Lane families,
You’ve survived the first full week of Virtual Learning! I am so impressed with {StudentFirstName}’s efforts this week. The first grade has been entered into Skyward. Instructions for the assignment are in Google Classroom under “Module 1: Week 1”.
We talked about a few things in class today that I want to tell you about as well. 1) Please be on time to Zoom meetings and stay the whole time, 2) Make sure chat/comments/etc. in Zoom/Google Classroom are school appropriate and related to the lesson, 3) Any work that is submitted blank or incomplete will be graded as such. Assignments can be redone according to district policy.
I know this is all new and mistakes will be made. Just let {StudentFirstName} know to keep in communication with me if they are having any problems. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help support you right now.
Please see below for important due dates coming up.
Coming up in 7th Grade Language Arts we will be working on Seventh Grade, Plot, Setting

Hello Kelly Lane families,
I hope that {StudentFirstName} had a good first week at school! I really loved getting to finally meet everyone. I uploaded my weekly ppt and a recording of our zoom to Google Classroom for anyone who was unable to attend/log in/etc. If {StudentFirstName} has any questions, please tell them to email me.
We will be taking our district reading inventory on Thursday and Friday of next week. {StudentFirstName} will need a district-provided Chromebook to access the material. If you have not picked one up, please contact the front office for more information. (512) 594-2800 or teresa.gratehouse@pfisd.net.
Next week our schedule will have synchronous and asynchronous days. Tue, Thur, and Fri {StudentFirstName} WILL have a Zoom class. M and W are asynchronous, meaning the work can be completed independently and turned in by the end of the day.
Coming up in 7th Grade Language Arts we will be working on figurative language, connecting to the online textbook, beginning of year reading assessment
