Sundiata Project
How does storytelling make us human? How can storytelling improve our world?
In groups of 4-5, select a sections of Sundiata that you read in class and turn it into a brief play that will take between 5 and 10 minutes to perform. Each group member must participate in the performance by acting as a character from Sundiata. You can also add a griot to use as a narrator to help explain your performance. You will rewrite your section as a script by creating more dialogue between characters. You are encouraged to use actual lines from the text. Select 1-3 proverbs from the section to be your theme. These proverbs must be directly stated and EMPHASIZED during your performance.
You will have 1 day to write and rehearse your script. Then, you will perform for the class during the next class period. You may read directly from your scripts because this is a very quick project.
