I am an Assistant Professor of Microbiology at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Arkansas State University. I specialize in molecular microbiology and animal challenge models, with a primary research focus on Avian Pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) and host-pathogen interactions. My work utilizes advanced molecular techniques alongside live-chicken challenge models to understand disease processes and develop strategies for prevention and control. Outside the bench, I am very passionate about science education and science communication. Drawing on my background in teaching and student mentorship, I focus on making complex microbiological concepts accessible, engaging, and impactful for the next generation of veterinarians and scientists.

Passionate Educator, Scientist, Mentor, and Science Communicator 

Teaching is at the heart of everything I do. As a DVM/PhD at the University of Georgia, I have combined my background in veterinary medicine with a passion for pedagogy, earning a Certificate in University Teaching to better serve my students. I believe that science is most impactful when it is accessible; this belief has led me to develop creative outreach projects, including a scientific graphic novel designed to introduce middle and high school students to the world of food safety and the microbiome.

Whether I am leading a workshop on yogurt-making in Thailand or teaching physiology labs in Georgia, my goal is to inspire curiosity and foster a One Health perspective. I am excited to continue this mission as an Assistant Professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Arkansas State University, where I will develop my own independent lab and teach new generations of veterinarians and scientists.
