⚠️ The following information applies to all hiking events unless an event-specific instruction says otherwise.
Not everyone’s fitness level is the same.
We use the IBP (Intelligent Benchmark Prediction) index.
Based on your fitness level you can gauge the difficulty of a hike.
Make sure you have a navigation app installed on your phone.
Make sure you can access and use an offline map of Malaysia for local hikes.
For every hike we will provide a QR code to download the gpx file of the hike.
Make sure your Location Service is switched on.
If you don’t have an app installed, start with OSMAnd or Hiiker.
Download the test file Lanjan West Test
Open the file and select your navigation app
You should see a screenshot similar to one of the screenshots.
DO NOT come to the venue if you cannot reproduce any of the screenshots.

We do not organise carpooling. We only offer a carpooling platform where drivers and passengers can meet.
Respect the following procedure:
As driver or passenger, request the carpooling link.
Fill in the Carpooling Form.
An autoresponder will immediately send you the link to the online carpooling list. Check your spam folder if you don't receive it.
As a driver, add your car to the list and provide the necessary details: your name, contact number, pick-up place and time and amount of the carpooling fee.
As a passenger, look for a driver in your neighbourhood and contact them first before adding your name to a car. If your driver agrees, place your name in their car. Otherwise add yourself to the waitlist.
As a passenger on the waitlist, check the list regularly for new drivers although you should receive an e-mail notification once a new driver is added to the list.
Passengers don't wait for the drivers to ask for the carpooling fees.
Bring clean clothes/slippers in order not to dirty your driver’s car. An extra towel and some old newspapers might come in handy as well.
If you can't make it for the event, inform your driver in order to avoid unnecessary detours and waiting time. Remove yourself from the carpooling list.
Don't use the comment section on the event page for carpooling arrangements.
Only click Attending if you will attend. You make a commitment; it’s not a ‘Like’ button as in Facebook.
Can’t make it for an event..? Change your status to Not Attending before the event starts. Otherwise you will be listed as a No Show.
Bring enough snacks and drinks. Every event there are hikers who run out of snacks and drinks.
Arrive timely. Respect the scheduled time.
Do not submit the Membership Form before every event. It is a one-off thing. You only have to submit it once.
Do not click Not Attending to start with. We are only interested in those who join us.
Do not bring guests. Ask your guests to register. For legal and safety reasons, we need to know the details of the persons who are joining our events.
Do not ask the event host to wait for you if you are running late. If necessary, ask any other participant to wait for you.
Do not clog the comment section with irrelevant postings.
Do not use the comment section for carpooling arrangements.
Do not mention your private information (mobile, e-mail) in the comment section. Meetup is publicly accessible. Not everyone has honourable intentions.
If you would like to carpool, do not be intrusive by adding your name to a car without contacting the driver first.
Do not message the event host or mention in the comment section the reason why you can’t make it. Changing your status to Not Attending is just fine.
The event host(s) will wait until the last person has finished the hike. Do not take them for granted by spending extra time in the jungle (shower, picnic, checking out other trails).
Do not overestimate your own fitness level. Do not underestimate the difficulty level of the hike. The event hosts are there to assist you, not to act as 'babysitters'.
Do not join for the event if you haven’t read the entire write-up. Having read the write-up is the least we can expect from a hiker who joins us for an event.
Do not persuade any of your friends or relatives to join for an event without informing them properly what to expect. They might assume that hiking is like walking in the park.
Do not join for a hike with a rating which is beyond your capabilities. Start with an easy one and build up gradually.
Do not leave your hiking essentials at home. Bring a proper backpack and all the gear you might require during the hike.
Do not put extra workload on the event hosts by contacting them with questions of which the answers can be found in these guidelines or in the event page. Read before you ask.
🥾 During/after the hike
Be polite and provide assistance were needed.
If you want to listen to music, use earphones. Most of us appreciate nature sounds.
Respect the mandatory cut-off times mentioned in the likely schedule.
Upon finishing the hike, scan the QR code to check-out.

Save the mobile number of the any other event host in your phone.
Contact the event host before calling the authorities unless there is a serious medical emergency.
In case of a serious medical emergency do not hesitate to call 999 (not 911…!) or 112.
Don’t panic. Stay calm.
Never leave an injured person alone.
Keep the injured person warm.
If CPR is needed, keep performing CPR. Ask some else to call the medical services or get help.
Contact the event host before calling the authorities.
If you are off-track, trek back or consult your navigation app.
If you are unable to find your way back, ration food and water. Look for shelter.
In most cases staying put facilitates search and rescue efforts.
Install the ‘What3words’ app on your phone. You will be able to relay your exact location.
You are attending the hikes/runs at your own risk.
The organiser, co-organiser or event hosts will try their best to assist and guide, but is in no way responsible, liable or accountable for any loss, damage, personal injuries, etc.
