Why I Chose This Topic
I chose autonomous vehicles because my dad and I recently had an interesting conversation about self‑driving cars, which made me curious to learn more. Our discussion raised questions about safety, technology, and the future of transportation. That conversation inspired me to research the topic more deeply.
One Interesting Thing I Learned
One interesting thing I learned is that people are more supportive of autonomous vehicles when they are used for social good, like helping people get to medical appointments. I also found it surprising that even though AVs have driven millions of miles, researchers still say the data isn’t enough to prove they’re safer than humans. This shows how complex measuring safety really is.
Lessons Learned Reflection
Through this project, I learned that new technologies like autonomous vehicles require strong regulation, public trust, and clear safety standards before they can be widely adopted. I realized how difficult it is to compare AV safety to human drivers because the data must cover millions of miles.
