In mid- 1997 Kiwi Dairies Employees Trust initiated the first plans to open a childcare centre for the children of staff and to also make the facility available to the wider community. The Trust's vision for the centre was very clear. It was planned to extend the hours of care to accommodate the children of shift workers at Fonterra. The centre was to be a nonprofit community cased centre, governed by a Board of parents.
The Centre opened officially on August 7th 1998, on the same site we occupy today.
