Key Club is an international service organization for high school students that provides it's members with opportunities to serve, build character, and develop leadership qualities through volunteer service projects.
High school student members of Key Club perform acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels.
Key Club core values are Caring, Character building, Inclusiveness, and Leadership.
We sponsor Key Clubs at the following local high schools:
St. Mark HS, Manotick
St. Mother Teresa HS, Barrhaven
Longfields-Davidson Heights SS, Barrhaven
John McCrae HS, Barrhaven
St. Francis Xavier HS, Riverside South
Kiwanis Manotick have 5 dedicated members who act as Key Club Advisors at their school Key Club meetings. They provide mentorship and guidance to their student- led clubs. Each Key Club receives a Kiwanis Foundation of Canada scholarship for a graduating member.
Scholarships: Our Kiwanis Club also provides additional scholarships to graduating students at each of the above-mentioned five high schools as well as South Carleton HS.
Our Kiwanis Club co-sponsors and provides volunteers to host AKtion Club meetings. AKtion Club is the only worldwide service club for adults with disabilities. We provide dinner, games and a fun evening for all.
Our club provides financial support annually to the1st Manotick Scout group and the 2958th Army Cadet Corp of Barrhaven. Both youth groups volunteer to help out at local Kiwanis Manotick events such as the Shiverfest Pancake breakfast, selling at our tree lot and Dickinsons Days weekend. Each Spring at the Cadet Year End Review, we present a Kiwanis Community Service award to a deserving Cadet. Scouts and Cadets share our vision of promoting youth leadership and promoting confidence.
