Waterloo MPP Catherine Fife hosted a wonderful screening of Prime Minister: A Documentary about Jacinda Ardern on Sunday, April 26th. The event also featured a discussion panel with brilliant local women leaders.
New Democrats from across the Southwest Region showed up for the 2026 Southwest Council Annual General Meeting on Saturday, April 25th. We elected a new executive council and shared inspiring ideas for our regional outreach in the coming year. A huge congratulations to Xan Arnott from Guelph and John Nuttall from Waterloo on their election to the council, and a heartfelt thank you to every member who joined the meeting.
NDP members showed up for the Waterloo Region Health Coalition/Fight Ford Rally at Waterloo Square on Saturday, April 25th, standing united against the continued privatization of our healthcare system. A massive thank you to every member who came out to organize, take action, and ensure our collective voice echoes all the way to Queen’s Park.
The Grand River NDP Regional Organizing Meeting on April 11, 2026, brought together key voices to discuss urgent local priorities. David Alton from the Social Development Centre highlighted the critical role of the Kitchener Renoviction Bylaw in protecting tenants, while Hannah from CUPE 331 spoke on the vital importance of standing in solidarity with unionized workers at the Kitchener Public Library. Additionally, Josh Dickson from ETFO Waterloo Region addressed the damaging effects of continuous Special Education defunding on our students, emphasizing the urgent need to push back and preserve funding for public education. Finally, Kimiko Shibata led a training session on the use of social media in riding association communication.
Many of our regional NDP members attended the Together in Education Public Education Advocacy Symposium on February 21, 2026, featuring local MPPs, local trustees, union representatives, and school council representatives. The message came through loud and clear: we need fully funded public schools NOW.

Thank you to all of the members from our seven local riding associations who attended our regional organizing session on December 6, 2025 which was preceded by a visit from Federal Leadership Candidate Tony McQuail. Tony was the second candidate to visit our region. Our first visit was in Guelph with Tanille Johnston on October 24, 2025. Our third visit was from Heather MacPherson on December 17th, 2025. Rob Ashton visited on January 11th, 2026. We are hopeful that Avi Lewis and any other future candidates will make a trip to the region as well.

NDP members from Kitchener centre and across Ontario attended an emergency “Hands Off Our Schools! Bill 33 Provincial Townhall” with Marit Stiles and Chandra Pasma on Monday September 8th. One of our Executive members compiled this list of local and provincial Bill 33 actions, including online and physical petitions, phone zaps, and more. There are so many ways to get involved and have your voice heard!

NDP members from across Waterloo Region gathered at the Annual Waterloo Regional Labour Council Labour Day Picnic to celebrate workers and raise money for the United Way Waterloo Region Communities.
The Kitchener Centre NDP Riding Association, supporters, and friends joined other riding associations in the KW area for a pub night with Marit Stiles and Catherine Fife on July 28, 2025 at McCabe's Pub in Waterloo.
Kitchener Centre NDP Riding Association volunteers were hard at work at the 4th Annual KW Palestine Day Festival in Carl Zehr Square on July 13, 2025. Community members shared their concerns and hopes for Kitchener Centre, and many NDP petitions were signed on this day.
