The commission generally meets the first Wednesday of every other month at 4:30 p.m. The meeting schedule may change due to the availability of commission members.

As an adjunct commission to the Board of County Commissioners, the Kiowa County Historic Preservation Commission (KCHPC) is an all-volunteer commission that promotes and supports local historic preservation efforts, which include documenting, interpreting, restoring and preserving historic structures, neighborhoods, and sites. KCHPC is a Certified Local Government (CLG).
Preservation enhances the county's property values and in turn, attracts tourism and helps increase economic and financial benefits for all county residents.
