Kingham past. 3

Interesting view below the Green of The post office and Plough Inn 1908 (Eaton postcard company)

Lovely pastel painting portraying Farmer Tom Eaton passing by the Plough inn.

It was painted by my Daughter Sarah. I imagine she got her inspiration  from the photograph below.

Sarah's Great uncle was Kingham artist the Late Frank Palmer, a page is dedicated to Frank Palmer here.

Painting by Frank Palmer

This lovely painting was done by my late uncle Frank Palmer.

The machine in the foreground is of an old potato digger that belonged to Kingham resident Jock Esson, Kingham church is in the background.

Frank was a self taught artist who moved to Kingham as a 1yr old and spent his whole life there until he passed away in 2016 at the grand age of 90.

Frank painted 100's of pictures of scenes in and around Kingham and many houses in Kingham will have one of his paintings on their walls.

You can see more of Franks paintings on this page

The four pictures here have very special memories for me. The cottages on the left in the top pictures  were once three cottages, I was born in the middle one. The lower pictures show the same cottages from a different angle.

The pictures below are of my sister and myself and my Father Norman when we lived in the above cottages.

A very old worn photo of green etc. The rework on the right is the best I could make of it. I include it because it has some interest. If anyone has a better version I would be most grateful to include it here.

Another very damaged image included for it's interest. To the right is my reworked version but with a missing part. As above if anyone has a better version I would love to include it here.

More Pictures will appear here shortly

If anyone has any photographs and stories of Kingham that they would like to share I would be most happy to display them on this site
