Pictures and stories wanted

If anyone has any photographs and stories of Kingham that they would like to share I would be most happy to display them on this page

Kingham on Facebook.

There is an excellent group on Facebook entitled Memories of Kingham. The group has almost 300 members with an interest in the village.

Many of the pictures on this site were kindly supplied by members of the group.

If you don't use Facebook or are not keen on using it and would like to share some photographs or your memories of Kingham, I would be more than happy to feature them on this web-site.

You can easily contact me using the contact page.

Station Master Ivor Townsend

Ivor (Left) and Arthur Jupp doing the gardening at Kingham station.

As a young lad I well remember my friend Geoff Beecham and myself cycling down to Ivor's signal box at Bruern  level crossing. Ivor very kindly used to invite us in out of the cold and into his 'box' where we would engage in much friendly chat and 'banter'.

Lovely photograph of Tom Eaton with his cows      (Photograph kindly supplied by Andy Wiggins)

The four images shown here were kindly supplied by Michael Pearce.  Trevellis (above image) was lived in by Mikes parents, the picture from the 1920's shows mikes mother (left) with her sister in laws. the present bungalow that replaced it still carries the Trevellis name.

Left image shows the lovely old Elm tree that stood in the playing field before it was removed due to Dutch Elm disease. As Children we used to climb in this tree.

Bottom left is Squirrel cottage with 'iconic' 1960's Ford Anglia outside. Bottom right is a lovely shot of west Street with boys playing.

A poem written by Fred Chesterman listing all the occupants (mostly the ladies) in New road

It is typed exactly as he wrote it apart from being condensed into 11 lines rather than the original 22 lines. (He could also play instruments and sing. A talented man.)
