Meditation courses accessible to LGBTQAI+, BIPoC and Neurospicy folk
Meditation can safe lives, it certainly saved mine.
I started a daily meditation practice in 2018 in order to support my gender transition. At the time I was struggling with a lot of doubt and self hatred. I was also losing everything I previously held on to. My name, my body, my status. Everything was changing and it was really difficult to find ground.
I started simply, with one breath a day and very slowly built my practice up. Breath by breath, moment by moment and eventually with the guidance of my teacher Mingyur Rinpoche I learned to see the innate awareness, love and compassion and wisdom that’s with us at all times. I also learned that the doubt and self-hatred that were troubling me were no more than thoughts that I could actually use to benefit my practice.
In the end not only did meditation help me through a very demanding death and rebirth of self, it gave me an inner safe space and confidence that continue to carry me through the challenges of navigating a world as an autistic trans woman of color.
Seeing how my own mind transformed through meditation I am motivated to share my practice with not only those like me. I’ve always lived on the intersection of many identities and I’d like to create spaces where we can practice with difference.
In 2025 I was fortunate enough to undergo a year-long meditation teacher programme in Tergar International. My plan now is to offer regular Anywhere Anytime Meditation courses, offer 1-on-1 mentoring and create a community with which we can hold weekly meditation sessions accessible to BIPOC and queer and neurodivergent folk.
Meditation is not an escape, it’s a profound tool to work with anything, anywhere and at any time in order to eventually make us all fully free.
Hopefully we’ll not only help ourselves but also contribute to a more harmonious world.
My name is Kim Kony and I am a meditation teacher.
I am also an autistic trans woman of mixed Slavic and Kinh herritage, I am a dancer and an artist.
I want to share the precious teachings I have received from my teachers and make them more accessible and relevant for folks in my communities.
My vision is for us all to have the patience, trust and care to not give up on one another — especially in disagreement — allowing for collective growth.
We can do that by getting to know our minds and recognising who we really are.
