The summer of 2022 I left the states and headed for the quiet town of Nérac, France to explore my work in the spacious studio at Studio Faire. I spent the month exploring the city for items that ended up in the thrift shops that told a small history of this town. I curated my collection and stories of the items. The items ranged from rusty dusty plaster knives, door pulls, antique key holes, French music sheets to Pathé vintage film reels from the 1930's. I took items that had been discarded long ago and brought new life and story to these items in my mixed media collage.
In my time at Studio Faire I shared space and lodging with 2 outstanding fiber artist and 2 phenomenal writers. There was inspiration in the studio, the garden, King Henri's castle, the town market and the miles of sunflower fields. I was delighted to host alongside Colin and Julia Usher an open studio. They invited their VIP group to join us for an afternoon in the garden exploring art, snacking on the vast charcuterie board and listening to my fellow resident read an excerpt of he memoir she is writing. It was a gift of time, space and inspirations.
