Private lessons are a great way for any student to better enjoy their experience in a school music program. Private lessons provide the individual attention your band director would love to offer each student, but obviously cannot considering the size of band classes. Whether a student is having difficulty with their instrument, is an average player aspiring to become one of the best in the class, or is already quite accomplished and ready to reach full potential, private lessons will enhance their experience in band exponentially.
Why take private lessons?
· Playing an instrument deals with training one of the most intricate muscle groups on the body. Without close observation by an expert, progress may not be as fast as desired.
· We learn best by example. Sitting next to and hearing a professional on a regular basis will gradually make a student start to sound like them.
· You can count time spent in a private lesson on the Practice Journal!
· Trained musicians are fun people and great role models for showing students how to accomplish long-term goals.
· Being great at something is fun and being great at something you share with other people is even better!
Who to take lessons with?
The DC Metro area has one of the highest concentrations of professional musicians in the world due to the nearby military bands. These people are truly world class musicians and many of them are great teachers. There are many life-lessons our students must learn. Successful participation in band teaches those lessons that are not easily quantified or calculated, but are essential to a happy, joyous and productive life.
Below is a list of private teachers with whom students from Kilmer and/or nearby schools are currently studying. These teachers have had a positive impact on their students!
