Encouraging others to pursue and excel at math is very important to me. Below are some mentorship and service activities I've engaged in.
Real Analysis Qualifying Exam Prep Sessions: At Penn State, the PhD qualifying examination in real analysis has historically been the most difficult qualifying exam at Penn State, so for several semesters (Fall 2023, Spring 2024, Spring 2025, Fall 2025) I facilitated weekly problem-solving sessions to help first- and second-year PhD students practice the necessary skills to succeed. You can find the collection of over 100 problems (and solutions) that I wrote and curated for the sessions here.
PDE Student Seminar: Since Spring 2024 I have served as the organizer for Penn State's PDE student seminar, where graduate students give research or expository talks. The aim is for the seminar to be accessible to most PhD students in the field. Here are two expository talks I gave, one on the Kakeya problem and another on dispersive equations.
Directed Reading Program: I was one of the mentors for Penn State's Math Directed Reading Program for undergraduates.
Fall 2025 (pilot): With Nathan Banks and Liam Woods, we read introductory materials related to mathematical plasma physics, including vector calculus and electromagnetism background, transport equations, and the Vlasov-Poisson equation and its properties. Here is a document I made with guided exercises related to the Vlasov equation.
Spring 2026: With Anthony Price and Rosie Ye, and with my co-mentor Svet Pack, we read Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 of Stein and Shakarchi's Fourier Analysis, and met weekly to collaboratively solve exercises and discuss applications. Here are slides that Anthony and Rosie made!
Bootcamp: Bootcamp is a program run by graduate students in the Math department to help ease the transition to graduate school for incoming Math graduate students. It's a four-day long program and consists mainly of collaborative problem-solving sessions on undergraduate level prerequisite material. I have led problem-solving sessions in undergraduate analysis since Bootcamp's inception in Fall 2023.
Penn State Mathematics Graduate Student Association: From Fall 2023 to Fall 2025 I served on the executive board of the Penn State Math department's graduate student association, in which my fellow board members and I strategically planned events and support systems that contributed to the social cohesion and academic development of the graduate student body.
