Some of the things things I am interested in outside of research mathematics:
Rock climbing (mainly bouldering)
Hiking and generally spending time in nature
Speedsolving Rubik's cubes of all types
Learning about most areas of science, especially physics
Studying philosophy of science and mathematics; here are some texts that have informed my views on the topic:
The Structure of Scientific Revolutions - Thomas Kuhn
On Proof and Progress in Mathematics - William Thurston (this one is particularly relevant, and also has implications for my understanding of higher mathematical pedagogy)
The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Mathematics in the Natural Sciences - Eugene Wigner
Early in graduate school, I also made a few expositional math videos:
Convolutions and Polynomial Approximation
An intuitive and visual introduction to convolutions and approximate identities, with a proof of the Weierstrass approximation theorem as an application. Made in Manim.
A quick introduction to the Dirac delta from a measure-theoretic perspective. I find that introducing the Dirac delta as a point mass is a surprisingly good way to motivate measure theory, especially for physicists and engineers!
