So, who are the AHN staff that you may meet to help you with your dialysis? See the images and guess what their roles are.
1. Kidney doctor (nephrologist). Checks your kidney health, prescribes your treatment and medicines.
2. Dialysis nurse. Prepares you for dialysis, monitors you and gives medicines prescribed by your doctor.
3. Center administrator. Helps with appointments, payments, insurance and other practical matters.
4. Dialysis technician. Makes sure the dialysis machines and equipment work properly and safely.
5. Nutritionist. Helps you choose suitable foods and drinks based on your health and treatment.
6. Counselor or social worker. Listens to your concerns and helps you find support when needed.
Remember: you are part of the team too! Tell your healthcare team how you feel, ask questions and speak up if something worries you.
Note: Not every dialysis center has all these professionals. Your nurse can help you find the right person.
