One of the most time consumed projects in the portfolio is undoubtedly this one! We spent around a year if not more to get this result. The matter is that the drum assembly comprises more than 50 parts. On top of this, 13 assemblies can rotate individually.
Main challenge was to find ways of bonding each component to another with a specific way that would allow us at the end of the day to be able to yield necessary mechanisms. Some of connection types applied here are rotation based on contact, belt based rotation, rotation transfer via welded connections.
At this point, the initial motion is applied to external two shafts. Then the software is used to indicate belted joints to actuate a drum with its 12 shafts. For the contact 4 or 5 shaft will be used to generate clockwise revolution. Hence, that means the rest of 12, can be contacted to generate counter clockwise motion. In the meantime, central, main shaft can rotate independently. However, in these videos we demonstrated only up to clockwise motion having in mind only kinematic behavior.
The future tasks of this project is to extend the work up to dynamic motion with help of rotating belts.
