TEAMS

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

Teams competition is held for 12 months, from January to December of the calendar year.
It is a competition for teams of five players who discuss and answer questions together. All teams answer the same questions at the same time.
Team competition is held using our two main platforms: Zoom and Open-Quiz. Use these two hyperlinks to familiarize yourself with the basic rules for using these platforms in KFL.
Teams can be made up of players of the same nationality or different nationalities. In the final standings, a team of different nationalities is marked as international.
One team game is a 100-questions quiz, divided into 5 rounds of 20 questions each. Every round lasts 10 minutes. Game is played with no breaks.
Gold and first-time members play teams for free. Silver, bronze or non-league members pay $3.5 per game. If players are sure they will participate in all or most games during the season, they can pay a fee of $42.
After the registration, team captain receives an email from the organizer with a payment details.

2. REGISTRATION (SEASON & GAME)

New teams can join the season at any point. However, take into a consideration that 9 best results will be counted in final standigs so teams who will join later in the season won't be a contender for the title.
SIGN UP is a hyperlink to register for Season 2025. A line-up can include up to nine players, but only five can play at a time.
At least one week before the another round of the team quiz, captains receive a registration email with basic information.
Every registration email features a link to a Google Form that consists ten timeslots to choose from: 10am and 8pm GMT/BST every day between Monday-Friday + two slots targeting mainly North American audience: 4am GMT/BST on Tuesday - which is Monday for North American players - and 4am GMT/BST on Thursday - which is Wednesday for North American players.
If teams have chosen a date and after some time want to change it, they just need to re-fill the form with a new time slot, this would be more than enough.
The confirmation message of registration form features, just in case, the Zoom link the KFL regularly uses for all games.

3. APPEALS

After the end of the game, the teams have 15 minutes to appeal (for a scoring answer or for the removal of a question). No appeal is needed if your answer was not scored by mistake.
Appeal for an answer score: If you think that your answer is identical to the author's and fits all the criteria of the question, then you can appeal.
If the appeal for an answer score is successful, all teams who gave the same answer get +1.
Appeal for removal: If you think there is a major error in the question that prevents you from answering the question correctly, you can appeal for its removal.
If the appeal for removal is successful, all teams will receive 0 points for that question.

4. POINT SYSTEM & HOW THE WINNERS DETERMINED

Our points system is a copy of biathlon relay system. The 1st place in a particular game gets 420 points, 2nd place gets 390 points, 3rd place gets 360 points, and etc.

The winners are the team who have the most pionts total over the nine games of the season. If a team have participated in more than nine games, the wors results are ignored.
If 2 or more teams contending for the podium have the same score, then the total of 10 best games will be counted. If these teams remain tied even after 12 best games, they are considered to have shared the place.
