THE FIVE YEARS TOURNAMENT: RESULTS
First of all, I want to thank all 196 players who participated in the tournament, including those who played online.
I also want to express my gratitude to all the organizers and proctors who made this event possible and found time to run it despite May’s tight schedule, packed with various quizzes leading up to the WQC in early June — and a special shout-out to the wonderful Kassandra Kokkala, who even managed to produce an outstanding translation of the questions into German!
And, of course, a special thank you to Thomas Kolåsæter for being an incredible co-author — without you, this quiz would never have received so many kind words.
At the end of the tournament, we have three sets of standings: Ranking, Non-Ranking, and Mixed (offline + online). So we’ll be congratulating the winners of all three.
Let’s start with the most important one — the Ranking standings. A total of 171 players competed in this category across more than 25 venues. Victory, with a comfortable margin, goes to the reigning world champion, Victoria Groce, with a magnificent score of 208 points! In a very close battle for second place, Neven Trgovec of Croatia secured the silver position with 190 points. Rounding out the podium, Adam Hancock from Canada takes third place with 189 points!

Now let’s take a look at the Non-Ranking results. This category featured 25 players — most of them current KFL members.
Despite the smaller field, the level of play was outstanding across the board. Evan Lynch claimed the top spot with an impressive score of 206 points. Second and third places go to Olav Bjortomt and Ian Bayley, with 193 and 192 points, respectively.

By now, you obviously have a good idea of the top three in the Mixed standings — but it’s still worth congratulating Victoria Groce, Evan Lynch, and Olav Bjortomt, who were unquestionably the standout players in this 250-question set.
