KFL - Pairs

PAIRS

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

Pairs competition is held for 12 months, from January to December of the calendar year.
It is a competition for teams of two players who discuss and answer questions together.
Pairs can be made up of players of the same nationality or different nationalities. In the final standings, the pair of different nationalities is marked as international.
Players are allowed to change teammates, but scores will be totalled with all teammates separately in the final standings.
One pairs game is a 100-questions quiz, divided into 5 rounds of 20 questions each. Every round lasts 10 minutes. Game is played with no breaks.
Pairs competition is held using our two main platforms: Zoom and Open-Quiz. Use these two hyperlinks to familiarize yourself with the basic rules for using these platforms in KFL.
Gold and silver members have access to pairs competition. Bronze and non-league members can participate for $5 per game or for $60 per season.

2. REGISTRATION

At least one week before the another round of the pairs quiz, players receive a registration email with basic information.
Every registration email features a link to a Google Form that consists ten timeslots to choose from: 10am and 8pm GMT/BST every day between Monday-Friday + two slots targeting mainly North American audience: 4am GMT/BST on Tuesday - which is Monday for North American players - and 4am GMT/BST on Thursday - which is Wednesday for North American players.
If players have chosen a date and after some time want to change it, they just need to re-fill the form with a new time slot, this would be more than enough.
The confirmation message of registration form features, just in case, the Zoom link the KFL regularly uses for all games.

3. DETERMINING WINNERS

The winners are the pair who have the best point total over the nine games of the season. If a pair have participated in 12 out of 12 games, the worst results are ignored.
If 2 or more pairs contending for the podium have the same score, then the total of 10 best games will be counted. If these pairs remain tied even after 12 best games, they are considered to have shared the place.
