We have just been informed of the death of Hugh Gilham, who sadly passed away on Friday the 14th of August after a long illness. We were informed by his grandson Gavin; there are no further details at this time.

Dave Farmer

We have just been informed of the death of retained firefighter Dave Farmer last Friday, 31st July 2026. 

He served at Ashford in the 1970s and 80s and was also a whole-time firefighter in the BP Fire Service at the Isle of Grain refinery. 

Dave had sadly been suffering from dementia for a number of years.

Funeral details

Dave's funeral will take place on Wednesday, 02 September 2026, at Charing Crematorium, Newport Wood, Charing, Ashford TN27 0EB, at 1130 hrs. 

The wake will be held at Ashford International Hotel, Simon Weil Avenue, Ashford, TN24 8UX, from 1230 hrs.
