For this assignment I had to google search and investigate for 2 cyber attacks in the last 3 monthsn and their accuracies then uploaded to my website.

Surgeries Canceled, Clinics Closed After University of Mississippi Medical Center Hit by Ransomware Attack  

A cyber attack using ransomware hit the University of Mississippi Medical Center on February 19, 2026 bringing down IT network and forcing them to cancel surgeries, appointments and closing its clinics all over the state. Ransomware is a type of malware that is used by hackers to lock and encrypt an institution data and it will not released the data if ransom is not received.

What we know about the Canvas hack that has impacted thousands of schools

A cyber attack using ransomware hit the platform Canvas which is used by many universities and K-12 schools it has more than 30 million active users globally, with more than 8,000 institutions as customers. Large publick school systems and top universities like Columbia, Princeton, Harvard and Georgetown reported a ransom note signed by the hacking group.

Lessons Learned

I learned about ransomware, malware, phishing, that are a type of cyber attack which criminals use to lock and steal sensitive and important data. When i first heard the cyber attacks i thought that was something that would not harm or be dangerous but  after completing this assignment I know it is something dangerous and we should be in the look for it to prevent this types of cyber attacks. I can imagine having my surgery cancel just because of this cyber criminals, it is not fair that this people do not care about the damage that brings to our society.
