Teaching is the act of instilling knowledge into the hungry minds of students. Therefore, as a SEA Teacher, I need to be knowledgeable and confident enough that I can feed them with correct information, guide them towards developing much higher learning, and develop their academic and non-academic skills.
I was assigned to teach at different grade levels. I taught in Grade 5 (English), Grade 8 (Physics), Grade 10 (Biology), Grade 11 (Biology), and Grade 12 (Biotechnology). Before the actual teaching, I met with my cooperating teachers and discussed with them the lessons that I was going to teach. I prepared the lesson plans and sent them to my cooperating teachers for critiquing. After that, I prepared the presentation and other learning materials.
I started the class with a game as a sort of review of their past lessons. This is to gauge whether they were able to master the basics or the foundations of the current lesson. Then, I proceeded to a short demonstration of a phenomenon or asked a question that would allow them to be curious about our lesson for the day. After that, I engaged them in a discussion and gave them activities to apply the concepts they had just learned. After a series of assessments, I asked them reflective questions and gave them homework. I ended the class seeing bright smiles from them, indicating that they have learned from my class.

Time management was a challenge for me because I had to travel 45 minutes to 1 hour from our boarding house to the Kinderstation. I made sure that everything was ready, and I was grateful that Ms. Moli was very accommodating, for she helped me in preparing the learning materials. As indicated in the lesson plan, I had to stick with the allotted time for each section of my instruction to ensure that everything would be covered. I kept the activities simple, authentic, and easy to execute to save time but could help the student understand and apply their learning.
Kinderstation is an international private school and has a high standard of education. I did not encounter major problems during my practicum at Kinderstation because everything was provided. From morning snacks and lunch to learning materials and internet access, everything was covered. Students were also able to speak in English, as well as the teachers. This was because teachers undergo training/seminars every month to improve their English communication skills.
I handled 2 sections of Grade 5, 2 sections of Grade 8, and 1 section for Grades 10, 11, and 12. I did not have a hard time when it came to their discipline because the students were very kind, courteous, and cooperative. However, I was challenged in getting students' attention throughout the class because of their different personalities and learning styles.
