The teachers based their topics or lessons in the National Curriculum and the International Curriculum and will make their lesson plan. In Kindergarten, the teachers always think of activities that would captivate the attention of the students. At the Primary level, a teacher's book is provided, which contains all the activities, quizzes, performance tasks, and even audio files in a compact disc. For Junior and Senior High School, the schedule of the classes changes every week. The teachers need to prepare the lesson and adjust the time when it will be delivered.
Teachers prepare the lessons using the learning resources and materials provided by the school. They have their laptops, printers, speakers and access to internet connection. For instance, Ms Sisca and Mr Tyo of Grade 5 prepared the materials and activity sheets before going to class.
The class starts at 7:30 AM, and the homeroom teacher will meet with the students for prayer and other important matters like some announcements. The next subject teacher will no longer ask the students to pray and will proceed directly to their lessons. Based on my observation, the teachers will do motivational activities or demonstrations to activate the energy and pique their curiosity. This will be followed by the discussion. Teachers accommodate any questions and clarifications from the students. After this, another set of activities will be given to ensure mastery of the lesson and for the students to apply their learning. The class will end with an exit ticket question and the giving of homework.
Assessment and evaluation are done not only to provide feedback to students but also to help teachers improve or refine the way they deliver the instruction. In Kinderstation, the teachers employed different learning assessments to gauge the understanding of their students before, during, and after the discussion. For example, students will make a report about the business they want to venture and will present it in class. This assessment does not only measure the comprehension of students, but it evaluates the ability of the students to speak and articulate their thoughts in front of their classmates. Quizzes, hands-on activities, and other performances are given to all students in all levels, from Kindergarten to Senior high school.
