For me, WCU was not even on my radar at first. I always thought that I was going to go to a small in-state school close to home. However, I found WCU's DPT program, and it piqued my interest. I decided to visit the school, and as soon as I stepped on campus I knew I had found my dream school. I was instantly captivated by the beauty of the mountain scenery, and I loved how welcoming everyone on campus was. I also loved how many opportunities WCU had to offer. Even though I was really scared at first, I am so happy I took the leap of faith and went to WCU. The experiences, friendships, and bonds I have made here are going to last a lifetime.
Over the summer, I was invited to be in the first ever cohort of the Catalyst Research and Leadership Program here at WCU. During the program, we listened to many informative presentations on scholarly research opportunities at Western, and how to get involved in leadership. This experience was so valuable to me, and the friendships I made through Catalyst have helped me grow as a person and have an easier transition to college.
This document is a draft of me experimenting with a personal statement since I have never written one before. This is not a finalized personal statement, and will change.
