Year 1, Semester 1
I helped clean up Home Base with Honors Board of Directors! We cleaned up bushes outside and then cleaned up the new apartment complex that they bought recently. We swept, moped, wiped down surfaces, and deep cleaned bathrooms. I think that Home Base is an amazing resource on campus, and I loved helping them out!
I ran the Honors Board of Directors Bake Sale and sold sweet treats to raise money for Board! I really loved interacting with fellow students and selling treats for a good cause.
During the break we had for the hurricane, I volunteered for "ELITE Integrated Therapy Centers". During my 15 hours of volunteering I cleaned, organized and sanitized equipment, bring the doctors equipment they needed, and talked to patients. This experience was very beneficial to me, as I got to see what it would be like to work as a PT, and the clinic had many different types of therapy including aqua therapy. I could not get many pictures while volunteering due to HIPPA violations, but I did get a picture of their aqua therapy pool.
During the break we had for the hurricane, I brought donations for hurricane Helene victims to my hometown Ingles. I did not get any pictures because that felt invasive, but I brought toiletries and non-perishable food items to be given to victims of the hurricane. This service meant a lot to me, as I knew I was able to help those in my community worse affected by the hurricane.

Year 1, Semester 2
At BHC Board of Directors, we made thank you cards for the office workers in the BHC!
I helped out with Honors Scholar Day this semester! This was a full circle moment for me, as I had attended Honors Scholar Day as an incoming freshman the year before. During this day, I helped give dorm tours of Balsam and Blue Ridge and talked to incoming freshmen. I loved talking to the new students and answering all their questions about Western! I am very passionate about WCU and the Honors program here, so it was an amazing opportunity to be able to assist with Honors Scholar Day and talk about everything I love about WCU!
I volunteered for two blood drives this semester! At one of the blood drives, I checked people in and helped keep track of who had come for their appointment. At the other blood drive, I helped hand out snacks and thank those who had given blood.
I tabled at a bake sale for BHC BOD. At this bake sale, I helped set up all the treats in an organized way and also sold them to raise money for Board!
This was by far my favorite service opportunity this semester! I volunteered to work at the UP basketball game. During this event, I helped set up tables, organize t-shirts, greet people at the entrance, and keep track of how many people attended the event. This was such an amazing event, and I am so happy that I got to be a part of it!
I attended the campus walk to raise awareness for suicide prevention this semester! I was so glad to be a part of this walk and listen to all the impactful stories that were shared. It was so inspiring to see people on campus come together to raise awareness for a good cause. I was so happy to wear the blue beads in support of suicide prevention.
I worked the used book fair this semester! At the book fair, I helped with the selling of books.
