As a way of developing your child’s self-help skills, we ask the children to return their belongings in their bag throughout the day unless being used. This may include: hats, dummies, bottles and sleep time comforters. This will encourage the children to look after their belongings and enhance their independence. Family participation would be appreciated in this learning phase.
The Green room offers a program that will create new and exciting challenges for your child. Children are encouraged to explore and play in their environment, therefore enhancing their social skills and allowing them to learn social competence. Through intentional teaching practices your child will be exposed to educational experiences. Our split group times allow for your child to participate in group experiences and discussions. Our program follows the children’s interest and aims to extend your Child's knowledge and further develop their skills. We encourage families to regularly communicate with educators about your child's interest and experiences. This allows us to further their home experiences and implement them into the program. This communication could be made verbally or via ChildCarers.
Throughout the day your child will be involved in different school readiness activities. A school readiness book is provided for your child where assigned worksheets will be completed and glued in. The children are encouraged to write their names and glue the worksheet in the book. Your child’s book is available to view at any time and will be given to parents when the book is full. School readiness checklists are available and completed on request of a parent mid-year.
Each area in the green room represents an important contribution towards our school readiness program. There is a large range of School readiness activities that your child will be involved in. The range of activities include threading, tracing, drawing, sorting, block play, storytelling, group time, arts and crafts, matching, games, group times and much more. These skills are a great step forward for your child to be ready for big school. The centre has a school readiness booklet that provides more details. It is available on ChildCarers.
