Toilet Training

Toilet training is a big and exciting new step for you and your child. In the Blue room we will help you determine when your child may be ready for this new step. In partnership with parents we will work out the best way of introducing this new routine to your child. Please feel comfortable to approach your child’s room leader with any questions about toilet training.

Sleep Time

Sleep time in the Blue room is at approx. 12 pm following lunch time. Children are welcome to bring a comforter such as a dummy, teddy, or favourite wrap. Children that do not longer require a day sleep can engage in educational quiet experiences. Families who want their child to sleep for a certain amount of time needs to take into consideration our Sleep and rest Policy.

What to bring

  • A labelled sun hat

  • Labelled change of clothes

  • A labelled jumper (In particular in the colder months)

  • Labelled sleep time comforter/ dummy (if needed)

Please keep these items in the child’s bag and place in locker provided.

As a way of developing your child’s self-help skills, we ask the children to return their belongings in their bag throughout the day unless being used. This may include: hats, dummies, bottles and sleep time comforters. This will encourage the children to look after their belongings and enhance their independence. Family participation would be appreciated in this learning phase.

Programming

The Blue room offers a program that will create new and exciting challenges for your child. Children are encouraged to explore and play in their new environment, therefore enhancing their social skills and allowing them to learn social competence. Through intentional teaching practices your child will be exposed to educational experiences. Group times allow for your child to participate in group experiences and discussions. Our program follows the children’s interest and aims to extend your Childs knowledge and further develop their skills.

Self Help Skills

Self-help skills are encouraged in the blue room by empowering the children to become independent. Children are assisted as they develop the skills to wash their hands on their own, put their shoes on and feed themselves.
