Principles of Design Thinking
For this project my team and I focused on applying the principles of Design Thinking introduced in the book, Designing the Online Learning Experience, Evidence-Based Principles Strategies by Simone C.O. Conceicao and les L. Howles. The authors help us understand a holistic approach to designing a training that reaches beyond only considering what the learner will learn in the cognitive realm. Alternatively, the authors identify four dimensions of learning. We applied the Design thinking process, and considered all four dimensions of learning when making design decisions throughout the process of developing the course. These dimensions are: Cognitive, Behavioral, Emotional, and Social. All of these dimensions play a role in learning during the course and how well the learner can apply it after the course.
We followed the Integrated Learning Framework to guide the Learning Experience Designer to create course with an empathetic and structured approach.
