Intro

My e-Portfolio is a comprehensive celebration of each program learning outcome achieved through my online Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) study at San José State University (2016-2021). As an international student from Canada, I value the experience of this graduate learning opportunity and the flexibility of the program along with the academic support of faculty, staff and fellow learners which was imperative to the achievement of this degree.

With a special acknowledgement to my mother and loved ones who encouraged me to take the step I did not know I needed.

This e-Portfolio is designed to be followed alphabetically or browsed by explanation of each of the 14 competencies. Which are divided with sectional structures of definition, background, evidence, conclusion, and references. These definitions are key descriptors of the competency such as terms and theories referencing course readings, textbooks, and dictionaries to demonstrate fundamental understanding of the scope.

Each competency includes a background on details of satisfactory statements with completed courses explicit to the learning outcomes of that competency and relevant evidence to be presented.

The evidence includes assignments, projects and experience that satisfy the competency with descriptions and arguments in relation to information discussed in background and definition of competency. Unpublished evidence is only available to the academic advisor reviewing the e-Portfolio.

The concluding statements are on my perspective as an information professional in relation to the competency with a list of APA style references to support that awareness and knowledge.

The e-Portfolio process was introduced to me at the beginning of this MLIS study with a student success planner which has proven invaluable as well as guidelines, resources and feedback provided by the academic advisor.
