Dance Etiquette
No jewelry or toys. Obtrusive jewelry is potentially dangerous to you and others. Toys could be distracting to you and those in your class
Listen while the dance teacher is talking. That means no talking while they’re talking. Not even quietly to your neighbor.
Put away the cell phone. Turn off, or just silence your cell phone. Putting it on vibrate can still make distracting noise.
Don’t film or take pictures in class. Always ask your dance teacher’s permission before recording or photographing any portion of your dance class.
Pay attention at all times, especially when waiting for your turn. You don’t want to get caught slouching or looking bored.
Stay for the entire class. If you must leave early, talk to the teacher beforehand and make your exit as quick and discreet as possible.
Don’t leave and come back into your class. Stay in the studio for the entirety of class, no ins-and-outs. This can be distracting to your fellow dancers.
Always arrive on time. If you can’t avoid being late, enter very quietly. After class, be sure to apologize for your late arrival.
Use the restroom before coming into class. This can be distracting to your fellow dancers.
Demonstrate good spatial awareness. This includes giving the instructor space, but don’t crowd those in the back of the room to do so.
DO your best. If you make the mistake, never walk out of a class or sit down in frustration—hang in there and do your best, no one will fault you for that.
Follow the class dress code. Make sure to dress appropriately to the dance class you are taking.
No chewing gum while dancing. There's no food and drinks are not allowed in the dance area, ony Water.
Let your body language show your desire to learn. Don’t ever sit down unless you’re asked to.
Practice as if you are performing for an audience. While in class always put your full effort.
Do your homework. Practice choreography, terminology and history at home when asked to do so.
Show respect to your instructor, yourself, and your fellow dancers. Always raise your hand, say excuse me, please and thank you! BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER.
If you have an injury prior to class, let the intructor know. If you get injured during class or pull a muscle, let the professor know. Sit and observe the rest of class.
Show pride in the KC Dance area by keeping it clean. Throw away your trash and take your belongings when you leave.
Be courteous and respectful. At the end of class, thank the instructor, and say good job to your fellow classmates
