Dr. Amit Anand

Associate Professor & Head, Department of Chemistry

Dr. Amit Anand is serving as the Head of the Department of Chemistry at Khalsa College, Amritsar since August 2023. He is an accomplished academician and researcher with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration.He completed his B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and qualified prestigious national examinations including GATE and UGC-NET (JRF). Dr. Anand’s research focuses on synthetic organic chemistry, particularly in the development of heterocyclic systems, β-lactam chemistry, and the design of biologically active molecules with antibacterial potential. He has published over 30 research papers in reputed international journals, along with books and funded research projects. He has guided numerous postgraduate dissertations and actively contributes to academic development through conferences, invited talks, and institutional responsibilities. In addition to heading the department, he plays key roles in grant coordination, NAAC activities, and innovation initiatives within the college
