The head of the Idler Detective Agency, Adeline prides herself on solving cases that the police can't, more often than not taking on supernatural cases. She works alongside her apprentices and adoptive children, Remington and Cordelia Sterling, as well as the newcomer to the agency, Gray.
Proud and ready to prove herself, she dives headfirst into even the most harrowing of cases. However, even the most picture-perfect private eyes have their fatal flaws.
The older of the Sterling twins, Remington studies under Adeline as one of her apprentices, aiming to become a sleuth like his mother. He has an affinity for knowledge, learning all that he can and jotting down what he knows in his journal. His wit is almost as sharp as his mind, rivaling even his mentor's talent.
Intelligent and calculating, he appears to be the perfect apprentice. Even so, there seems to be more to him than meets the eye. Something that he won't let anyone see...
The younger of the Sterling twins, Cordelia studies under Adeline as one of her apprentices, striving to be just as great as her mother. She's incredibly kind and compassionate, using her heart to maneuver through tricky situations. And in tricker ones, her trained fists are ready to beat those that threaten her loved ones to kingdom come.
She's incredibly selfless, throwing herself in harm's way to protect those that she cares about. Her desire to protect those she loves is certainly unparalleled. So much so that she doesn't even notice the darkness creeping into her ideals...
A brownie spirit from the Supernatural side of Baske, Gray initially only hid at the Idler Detective Agency for shelter, but upon being saved by Cordelia, he decides to pay back their kindness by providing information to help them on their first big Supernatural-related case. This bit of assistance quickly morphs into him investigating alongside them, becoming an honorary member of the Idler Detective Agency.
Despite his sincere nature and desire to help, there's always something about him that seems off. Something...manufactured. Who is he really, and why does he feel the need to put up a front?
Adeline's long-time rival, Detective Inspector Percival Rohel gained a reputation of being proud, stern, and no-nonsense when it comes to his work. The two of them consistently butt heads when it comes to their methods, but when things get dire, they aren't object to putting their pride to the side and working together.
He always seems to get in the way of Adeline and the twins when they try to investigate, constantly looking down upon them. Or...is he really? Why is it that he acts the way that he does?
A long-time friend of Adeline's, Arthur supports the others as best as he can, while also being able to bring Adeline back down to Earth when she gets riled up. While not being a detective like the others, he brings whatever he can to the table when needed, whether it's an outside viewpoint or blueberry scones to snack on.
He always looks out for Adeline's best interests, sticking by her side no matter what. Though, it seems that his feelings for her run deeper than she expected...
