For my History Internal Assessment, I explored the research question: To what extent is the Kashmir Conflict influenced by the separation of India and Pakistan in 1947? My investigation focused on analyzing the root causes of the Kashmir conflict by examining the immediate and long-term consequences of Partition. I looked at the political decisions surrounding the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, the role of key leaders, and the involvement of external powers. Through evaluating both primary and secondary sources, I assessed how the events of 1947 laid the foundation for territorial disputes, national identity tensions, and ongoing regional instability. This research helped me better understand how historical decisions continue to shape modern-day conflicts.
