On 31st August 2024, our academic visit led us to the serene Victoria Nature Park, thanks to the thoughtful organization by Megha Trivedi ma'am and Prakruti Bhatt ma'am. Immersed in the park's natural beauty, we explored our creative sides through painting, poetry, and photography, capturing the diverse facets of the landscape. Also wee enjoyed a delightful lunch amidst the greenery,This educational visit was not only a celebration of nature's splendor but also a chance to reflect on our experiences artistically. It was a day filled with inspiration and discovery, leaving us with lasting memories of the park's enchanting charm.
Exploring Bhavnagar’s Cultural and Literary Heritage: A Journey Through Libraries and Museums
As part of their academic program, students embarked on an enriching visit to various libraries and museums in Bhavnagar to gain deeper insights into the city’s cultural and intellectual legacy. This educational excursion allowed them to explore historical manuscripts, rare literary works, and significant archival materials, making learning an engaging experience beyond the classroom.
The itinerary included a visit to Gandhi Smriti, a museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, where students examined rare letters, documents, and artifacts related to his life and philosophy. At Barton Library, one of Gujarat’s oldest libraries, they explored an extensive collection of historical and literary works that highlight Bhavnagar’s rich literary heritage. The Central Library of the University introduced them to academic resources, research materials, and digital archives essential for higher studies. Additionally, the visit to the Pattani Archives & Library provided a glimpse into rare historical records and royal documents, offering valuable perspectives on the city’s history.
This insightful journey enhanced students’ appreciation of Bhavnagar’s cultural and literary traditions while broadening their academic horizons.
Exploring Journalism: An Academic Media Visit to Bhavnagar's News Industry
On February 8, 2024, we were visited at Saurashtra Samachar chenal. This insightful visit was thoughtfully organized by Mass Media Community leaders Upasna Goswami and Riddhi Rathod , providing us with a truly enriching experience.
Saurashtra News Channel not only airs on GTPL but also maintains an active presence on YouTube, showcasing its diverse broadcasting platforms.
As part of an academic initiative, students embarked on an insightful visit to leading media organizations in Bhavnagar, gaining firsthand experience of the dynamic world of journalism and news production. The visit provided a deeper understanding of the media’s role in shaping public opinion, delivering information, and maintaining journalistic ethics.
The tour included a visit to the Gujarat Samachar office, where students observed the intricate process of news reporting, editing, and publication. From gathering information to the final stages of print production, they witnessed the precision and ethical considerations that define responsible journalism. Additionally, at the Saurashtra Samachar News Channel Studio, students explored the workings of broadcast journalism, gaining insights into news scripting, live reporting, and studio operations.
Interactive discussions with media professionals further enriched the experience, offering valuable perspectives on the evolving digital media landscape and emphasizing the importance of credible news sources in today’s information-driven world.
Educational trip
On 1st January 2025, the Department of English organized an educational trip to Ahmedabad, providing a unique opportunity for students to explore historical, cultural, and natural landmarks of the city. The journey was both enriching and engaging, offering insights into Gujarat's heritage and values.
Our first destination was Adalaj ni Vav, a stunning stepwell renowned for its intricate Indo-Islamic architecture. As we descended its levels, we marveled at the exquisite carvings depicting daily life, mythology, and floral motifs. The cool atmosphere within the Vav and the historical significance of its design left us fascinated by the ingenuity of ancient engineering.
The second stop was Sabarmati Ashram, a place steeped in the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. Walking through the serene premises, we visited Hriday Kunj, Gandhi's humble residence, and explored the museum showcasing photographs, letters, and artifacts from the freedom struggle. The Ashram's tranquil environment inspired us to reflect on the ideals of truth, non-violence, and simplicity.
Our final visit was to the Kamala Nehru Zoo, where we enjoyed observing diverse species of animals and birds. The zoo's emphasis on conservation and education was evident, and it was a delight to see efforts being made to create a natural habitat for the inhabitants. The experience also highlighted the importance of preserving biodiversity.
The trip to Ahmedabad was not just an educational excursion but also a memorable experience that allowed us to connect with history, culture, and nature in meaningful ways.
