Superlatives are used to show extreme characteristics. For example: the greatest, the loudest, the most interesting, the least interesting.
In English, these are usually words that end with the suffix "-est" (smartest, bravest, fastest)
There is no "-est" suffix in Spanish, so we instead show this with our grammar
For example: She is the smartest--> She is the most smart. He is the fastest--> He is the most fast. They are the slowest--> They are the most slow OR They are the least fast.
So, we can rewrite "She is the smartest" as "She is the most smart" or "Ella es la más inteligente"
Or, we can rewrite "He is the fastest" as "He is the most fast" or "Él es el más rápido"
There are 4 irregular comparison words: mejor (better), peor (worse), mayor (older), menor (younger). With these words, we do not use más/menos.
Ex: Frozen es mejor que Wreck it Ralph. Mi padre es mayor que mi madre.
Ex: Frozen es el mejor. Mi padre es el mayor.
