ヨモギホンヤドカリ
Pagurus nigrofascia Komai, 1996
レア度:いつでも見られる
形態:体は緑褐色で、はさみ脚と歩脚に黒い斑点が散在する。全体にケアシホンヤドカリに似るが、ヨモギは歩脚の先端に黒い縞が入って先端が淡くオレンジ色になるのに対して、ケアシはつま先まで緑褐色である。また、第2触角はケアシよりも赤みが弱く、朱色に近い。はさみ脚と歩脚には、密に長毛が生えるが、個体差があるように思う。比較的最近になって新種記載されたが、当講座の大先輩の手によるものであり、茂辺地の標本がホロタイプ、葛登支の標本はパラタイプに指定されている(Komai, 1996)。
生息域:葛登支では夏の休眠期には、平磯の小石をひっくり返すと大量に見つかることがある。水温が下がる時期は、満遍なく活動している印象。
生態:冬に活発に活動する。雌は4~5月に産卵する。水温の高い夏季は石の下などで夏眠するため、孵化は翌年の初春(2月頃まで)になる(Goshima et al., 1996)。
その他:環境省のレッドリストで、準絶滅危惧種に指定されている。護岸工事などによる生息環境の悪化により、生息数が減少しているらしい。
